The Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI), Atlanta, Georgia
Going down a slide can be quite frightening for children who can’t see where they are headed. Once they experience the slide several times with an adult, fears dissolve and the magic of sliding begins.
EcoPlay designed CVI’s playground structure with two slides, two see-saws, a climbing wall, a touch-activated music panel, and a playhouse. The playground is much more than a sensory haven of chimes, gardens, and motion for children who have been blind or visually impaired since birth or in their formative years. It’s also a remarkable teaching tool, a place to explore, and a catalyst for interacting with other children.
